The school is in operation from September through May, five days a week with an optional three-week June program.

Learning takes place within a program that fosters all areas of children’s development (i.e., physical, social, emotional, spiritual, language, cognitive). Thus, every aspect of the program (including the daily schedule, the classroom itself, the materials, and all activities and routines) promotes children’s growth and learning.

Twos Program

There are three classes for Twos (two 3-day-a-week classes and one 2-day-a-week class).
M/W/F                 9:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
T/TH                    9:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
T/W/TH               1:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Threes Program

M-F                      9:00 a.m. – noon
M-F                      1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Fours/Fives Program and Extended Day

Children in the young four-year-old classes attend in the morning and have the option of staying for an extended day until 2:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Children who will turn five during the school year are required to participate in the Extended Day Program.

Extended Day/Lunch Bunch is essentially a continuation of the school day. The children bring in a nut-free lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. After lunch with their friends and teachers, there is a short rest time. Rest mats are provided for the children in the classrooms. The children rarely fall asleep, as it is simply a time to relax and calm their bodies. Stories are read and peaceful music is played. Once rest time is over the children put their mats away and go to the roof or the garden (30 minutes). After outdoor playtime, the children have an opportunity to finish any work from the morning. It is a great time to continue to build their social skills and peer relationships with some structured and unstructured play.

In years past, we have had a monthly Story Telling Assembly for all the children in Extended Day. Also, we offer a Music & Movement class (as part of ED) on Thursdays in Watson Hall.

If you think your child is not ready to start Extended Day in September and would prefer to join mid-year or after the start of school, we will happily prorate the extended day tuition amount.

Early Morning Drop-Off

We are pleased to offer Early Morning Drop-Off for families whose work schedule, child-care situation, or sibling drop-off at another school conflicts with drop-off time at Brick. EMDO begins at 8:00am and children must arrive by 8:20am to attend. Drop-off will be in the Garden, weather permitting, or Watson Hall if inclement weather.

June Program

The school operates a June Program which runs for the first three weeks in June from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is open to current students and Church members who are four or five years old. Activities include sprinklers and outdoor play, music and movement, games, cooking, arts and crafts, special projects, and activities guided by the children’s interests.
