Areas of Parent Help

A descriptive listing of the various areas in which parental help is both welcomed and needed in The Brick Church School follows. Many of you have expressed a desire to be involved, and it is helpful for us to know in what specific ways you wish to volunteer your efforts

Library Committee
Most parents on this committee work at the school once a week for approximately one or two hours. They check books out to children (usually their child’s class), bring groups of children to the library or bring books from the library to the classrooms, reshelf books and occasionally read to the class. A fund-raising event to raise money to purchase books is held once a year. Some people have less time available and can only help on occasion. This is also welcomed.

Classroom Volunteers
On occasion, teachers wish to have assistance with special projects or to have parents accompany groups on class trips.

Hospitality
Refreshments for most of the school’s parent events are supplied by the hospitality committee. In addition to preparing food, members of this committee are also asked to help set up, serve and clean up.

Telephone
After prospective parents have seen our School, and we have accepted their child, we may offer them a list of parents in the school whom they may call to answer questions they may have and may hesitate to ask us.

Fall Children’s Fair
This committee will plan the children’s games and entertainment, secure the necessary materials, set up the games, arrange for people to manage the games, and pack up and clean up materials and supplies afterwards. This occurs only once each year, but it requires time, planning and a large number of people.

Fund Raising
The Brick Church School has an auction every other year.  A Family Festival is  planned in alternate years. Parents are needed to plan and solicit donations as well as assist with the actual event.
