Greetings From Dr. Lydia A. Spinelli

Welcome to the first edition of Brick by Brick, our email newsletter for current and alumni families and friends of The Brick Church School! We hope you will enjoy reading news about today's Brick, as well as reminiscences about the past and plans for the future. It is our hope that this newsletter will help us stay in touch with our extended Brick family. Please feel free to forward Brick by Brick to anyone you think might be interested in hearing news about the school. We are particularly eager to reconnect with our adult alumni and hope to add many of them to our newsletter recipient list.

In this issue of Brick by Brick you will read about the school’s 70th Birthday and Art Studio dedication. A second article shares the self-evaluation process undertaken by the school community in preparation for our 10-year reaccreditation this fall by the New York State Association of Independent Schools. In our Where Are They Now? section, which features the lives and accomplishments of our graduates, you will read about Pauline de Trabuc, owner and chef of Butter Flour Sugar, a private pastry company. Please enjoy the articles and photos, and take a look at our winter calendar which shows all the exciting events coming up at Brick. And if it has been some time since you were at the school, please click here to visit our website and read more about The Brick Church School today.

During this busy holiday season, I hope reading about Brick will bring cheer to you all!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Lydia
Happy 70th Birthday to The Brick Church School
On October 7th, The Brick Church School celebrated two landmark events: the school’s 70th birthday and the dedication of its new art studio. In recognition of these special events in the life of the school, a reception was held on the actual anniversary of the day Brick first opened its doors back in 1940. In the past 70 years the school has grown from 6 to 161 children, and has seen not only its enrollment but also its faculty, programs, curriculum, facility and more develop and excel. The recent addition of the art studio, created in the spirit of the ateliers of the early childhood schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, is the latest example of the Brick community’s tremendous commitment to providing our students with an unparalleled educational experience.

Annual Giving at Brick
The Annual Fund Appeal is underway at The Brick Church School.  We are grateful for the generosity of our donors who make Brick's high quality early childhood education program possible.  Our commitment to providing at least 10% of our students with financial aid, a commitment we are proud to have been able to exceed each year, is made possible by the success of our Annual Fund Appeal.  To make a donation to the school, please click here.
